St. Rose is Best Middle School Delegation at United Nations "Global Classrooms" Conference

The Secretary-General's Award for the Best Middle School Delegation was awarded to the entire St. Rose of Lima School delegation at the Model United Nations Global Classrooms Conference held recently at the City College of New York.

The Model U.N Conference is sponsored by the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA).

The Global Classroom program introduces middle students to conflicting global issues and provides an opportunity for them to take part in a guided U.N. Conference simulation.

The St. Rose of Lima, Newtown, delegation team consists of over twenty students. Ten delegates from the team were sent to compete against other Middle Schools from the greater New York area

Students implement their ethical and moral judgments as well as critical thinking skills to invite global resolution using U.N. caucusing protocols.

The St. Rose of Lima delegation team consists of over twenty students. Ten delegates from the team were sent to compete against other Middle Schools from the greater New York area.

Two students, Tony Leonardi and Caroline Wolf were awarded the Best Middle School Delegation for students who demonstrated excellence in representation and performance.

Emily Spina and Kaylie Daniels were awarded Honorable Mention for Delegates whose performance were deserving of Honorable Mention.

Elizabeth Ludanyi, Larissa Spies, Alex Gerbo and Timmy Moore recieved awards for Best Position Paper.

The St. Rose of Lima School delegation meets twice per week and is currently preparing to send another team of ten middle school students to the April 17 Model United Nations Conference which is scheduled to begin with an Opening Ceremony on April 16 at the United Nations in New York City.
