The Saint Augustine Lecture Series initiated by Bishop William E. Lori in 2006 in honor of Saint Augustine, the patron of the Diocese of Bridgeport and a model for us in searching for the truth and of vigor in evangelization is a diocesan initiative organized by the Office for Pastoral Services. Its aim is to foster the ongoing faith formation of the laity and to provide a vehicle for evangelizing the culture.

The Lectures are offered in conjunction with the implementation, in our 87 parishes, of "Following in the Footsteps of Christ," the Pastoral Plan for Evangelization in the Diocese of Bridgeport.

Since the Pastoral Plan is centered in the liturgy, we want to offer opportunities for parishioners to grow in their devotion to the Real Presence of the Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Therefore, prior to each Lecture, we provide Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. Opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Penance is available as well.

When possible, videos of Saint Augustine Lectures will be posted here.

Father Bill Petrie spoke on "Saint Damien of Molokai" on November 5.
